Air cooling compressors are less expensive and easier to install than water-cooling systems. They use a fan to blow air across the condenser to remove the heat. This air cooled compressor is equipped with a duct ring on the condenser for adding a flexible duct so that the heated air can be vented to a remote area in the vessel.

Keep in mind that air-cooled compressors need ventilation. They are not suitable for installing in an engine room or other hot, enclosed area. Given enough air to "breathe" air-cooled compressors are efficient, and almost maintenance free.

The basic parts of a air system are: compressor, evaporator and thermostat.

For refrigerators up to 5 cubic feet and freezers up to 2.5 cubic feet (based on minimum of 3" closed cell polyurethane foam insulation in refrigerator, minimum of 4" in freezer).
