Frigoboat Keel-Cooled compressor, Danfoss BD35 compressor with electronic unit, quick-disconnect fittings, operates on 12 or 24VDC. Pre-charged.
A Keel-cooled system is a step up from a water-cooled system because the condenser is outside of the vessel, instead of pumping water into the boat and then back over the side. The compressor circulates the refrigerant gas and the heat is removed through the thru-hull fitting. The Frigoboat Keel Cooled system is the quietest, most reliable and efficient system of all.
Some owners may be concerned with "putting another hole in the boat" but the Keel Cooler fitting is simply a tough and sturdy plug, and there is no water coming onboard. The water stays were it belongs - outside the boat!
The basic parts of a keel-cooled system are: compressor, keel-cooler, evaporator and thermostat.
"We've been pleasantly surprised at the capacity and efficiency of the system. We have two freezers aboard Wind Horse, six and seven cubic feet each. We are using Frigoboat keel coolers. The system is at least as efficient as the best of the holding plate systems we've installed in the past, and possibly more efficient. Your system is much easier to install and significantly less expensive" Steve Dashew
For refrigerators up to 15 cubic feet and freezers up to 8 cubic feet (based on minimum of 3" closed cell polyurethane foam insulation in refrigerator, minimum of 4" in freezer).
Works with Frigoboat keel-cooled condenser.
